(Business Advisor – GovCon)

We are looking for:

A Sr. Government Contract Accounting Advisor to lead our government contracting practice. The role will involve technical accounting & compliance, supervision, and business development elements. This advisor will also be a great communicator, supervisor, collaborator, and project manager.

What a typical day might be like:

The position involves a variety of rewarding elements that you will surely appreciate if you are the type of person that enjoys helping business owners with opportunities to scale their business and problem solve. You will have the chance to establish and foster relationships that have meaning as you help clients on an ongoing basis with a variety of areas that will keep their business organized and functioning. You will also have the opportunity to utilize your expertise with GovCon accounting to keep their contracts in compliance and audit ready.

As a Sr. GovCon Advisor (Practice Lead), you will lead our government contract accounting engagements and will also be responsible for some business development. You will have the opportunity to work closely with our clients to recommend

approaches to their accounting operations, lead their accounting operations and propose business strategies to further their current business situation.

Your typical day may include the following tasks:

  • Meeting with a prospective client to initially discuss how we may be able to address their needs, or recommend a proposed approach forward
  • Managing client engagements and reviewing financial statements
  • Mentoring colleagues on government contract and grant accounting
  • Ensuring clients are audit ready with their government contracts or government grants
  • Ongoing and proactive client collaboration and communication – especially with new clients
  • Implementing and addressing project and job costing needs
  • Collaborating with key affiliate partners
  • Updating SaaS app integrations and exceptions
  • Budgeting, Forecasting, and Strategic Planning

This job might be for you if:

  • You have a solid foundation in Government Contract Accounting & Compliance
  • You have 5+ years of relevant government contract accounting experience
  • You have expertise with DCAA, DoD, FAR regulations
  • You are comfortable establishing project and job costing frameworks
  • Unanet, Deltek, or similar ERP software experience is a plus
  • You are an excellent communicator and understand that includes being a good listener

You might be a really good fit if:

  • You are great with technology and can easily navigate the GovCon and SaaS apps ecosystem
  • You are professional and organized and help others achieve the same
  • You take good notes when needed and ask questions when something is not clear
  • You are good at keeping a schedule and have good methods to help you manage priorities and deadlines
  • You are extremely proficient with Excel
  • You are detail oriented and proofread things that you write or type to make sure they are accurate
  • You get things done and you take pride in doing things right
